The Hulsey Family & Mother Nature
Life happens when we make plans, right? Exactly! I checked on the sunflower field we had decided to do the Hulsey's family pictures in on Tuesday. The flowers were great! Fast forward to 20 minutes before their session on Friday, and I learn that 90% of my gorgeous flowers are wilted.
This photog was spazzing out. I like to be prepared. I'm a punctual person. I do not enjoy surprises. But when 65% of your business relies on Mother Nature, you take what you get.
So with sweaty palms (mainly because it was 100 degrees but partly because I was scared Heather was going to kill me through the phone) I dialed her number and delivered the bad news. Of course, they were already on their way. I told her we had a few other options. Some places I hadn't shot before. I told her they weren't the prettiest places but basically asked her to trust me on it.
And she did. THANK YOU, JESUS!
So in the shot above and the next few, I literally have them standing between a blue storage container and the ugliest red horse trailer you've ever seen. At this point, I know she thought I was crazy and simply going through with this session out of politeness.
All of this to say, even though we didn't get our sunflowers (we are planning to in September), God makes magic out of the chaos.
We are never fully in control. Not of our jobs. Not of kids. And certainly not of the weather.
But thank goodness, there is someone who is and He takes us by the hand and helps us overcome it all.
Thank you Heather & Blake for your patience & trust. I hope you guys love them as much as I do.
